Commodore, the hot computer company that had it’s prime in the 1980’s with the release of the Commodore 64 or more simply referred to as the C64 seems to be making a come back with the announcement of it’s very own smartphone.
Named the Commodore PET, after a model released before the ever popular C64 is a higher mid-range Android handset whose screen measures 5.5 inches in full 1080p. The PET also contains a large battery, 13-megapixel rear facing camera and two, thats right two sim cards slots. Powering the device will be a 1.7 Ghz 64-bit 8 core processor along with 3GB of RAM. Aside from being a decent Android powered phone the Commodore PET has another trick up it’s sleeve that will be sure to have 1980’s gamers rethinking their life. That trick would come in the form of built-in C64 and Amiga emulators designed to run the old games that made Commodore such a household name. According to an article over at Wired Commodore said the phone would come with a number of games preloaded, but it didn’t say which ones.
The initial release of the Commodore PET will include just Italy, France, Germany, and Poland but with plans to further expand into Europe and also the United States in the future. This device is sure to bring back some memories to all that decide to own it.
